It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Re-organizing the galleries

If you look closely, you'll notice that the member submissions are now organized. The "Featured" gallery had just been accumulating images for (apparently) a very, very long time. It was a total, disorganized mess...

- All images that were submitted/accepted to the "Featured" collection before August 1st, 2010 have now been categorized and moved to the appropriate collection (Artistic Nude, Landscape, Portrait, etc.).

- All images that were submitted/accepted to the "Featured" collection during August, 2010, are now in the "Newest Additions" collection.

- New submissions should now be added to the (you guessed it) the "Newest Additions" Collection.

From now on, at the end of every month our standard practice will be to clean out the previous month's submissions from the "Newest Additions" collection. So... Since this is the end of August, July's submissions can now be found in the gallery most appropriate to their categories.

I left a few works I thought to be of exceptional quality in the "Featured" collection, just so it wouldn't be totally empty. More on how works to be "featured" in that gallery will be selected will soon be forthcoming...
