Ron has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the State University of New York's College at New Paltz with advanced studies in Cell Biology, Histology and Microscopy (both light and electron).
He has been involved in photography for well over three decades (20+ years as a professional). For the past 14 years, he has worked in a museum where he currently serves as the lead collections photographer and supervisor of the museum's digital imaging facility.
Ron's professional work has been exhibited in galleries in Manhattan, Albany and Woodstock, and has been published in scientific journals and textbooks, as well as more "mainstream" publications such as Conservationist, Antiques and Fine Art, and National Geographic magazines. He has even had a photo appear (briefly) in an episode of "History Detectives" on PBS television.
Ron joined dA in 2004 at the urging of his daughters. He can be found prowling the Photography Forum where he is a regular contributor (I have a few questions about the forum Ron, I shall ask you later, I never worked out how to trace threads). He is also among the moderators of
The photographers who have most influenced Ron's "aesthetic sensibilities" include (in no particular order): Edward Weston (#1), Ansel Adams, Gordon Parks, Imogen Cunningham, Jerry Uelsmann, J.K. Potter, Karl Blossfeldt, Man Ray, and Roman Visniac.
